Outreach
Autumn Outreach

Healthwatch Lambeth has been busy in recent weeks with its outreach programme, with events at Streatham Library (6th September and 8th October) and another at Clapham Library on September 29th. 

Attendees at our Clapham event were particularly positive about their GP service.

We have another event taking place on 26th October at Durning Library in Kennington. The event is an excellent opportunity to meet members of the team and learn more about how you and Healthwatch Lambeth can shape decisions on care in the borough.

A word from our Chief Executive, Mairéad Healy
 

It's an exciting time for myself and the team at Healthwatch Lambeth. We have just drafted a new three-year strategy, which we're excited to share with our stakeholders as we finalise our direction and focus for the coming years. I would like to invite you to take a look at the strategy and give us your feedback. People are at the heart of all that we do and the voices of Lambeth residents should inform all of our work.

Our AGM, on 21st October, is a great opportunity to meet the team, discuss our strategy consultation and give us your thoughts on how we can support people in Lambeth. 

So please do come down and get to know the people who are working on your behalf to shape good health and social care throughout the borough and discuss how we can work together moving forward.

Healthwatch Lambeth would like to invite you to our 2022 AGM at our Brixton offices on 21st October (14:00-17:00).

The occasion presents us with an opportunity to welcome our residents, stakeholders and partners and celebrate the achievements of the past year. During the event, we will also host a workshop on our new draft strategy, which is under public consultation until the beginning of November.

Most importantly, it is a chance for local residents and stakeholders to get to know our staff, trustees and volunteers better at a drinks reception where we will discuss ways to improve health and social care outcomes for Lambeth residents in the months and years ahead.

Strategy Consultation

At Healthwatch Lambeth, we believe our stakeholders should be at the heart of all the work we do, and this includes decisions over our future direction. In recent months, we have been working on our three-year strategy.

We would like to invite you to have a read and let us know if it reflects your own health and social care priorities. In doing so, you can also enter our prize draw, giving you a chance to win supermarket vouchers worth £25.
 
 
COVID 19 update
Covid 19 vaccinations what can you get?
COVID-19 vaccinations
 

NHS leaders are urging those eligible to take up their free Covid booster and annual flu vaccine ahead of the threat of a potential “twindemic” this winter, and with infection levels already starting to rise.

Since launching the autumn top-ups campaign, the NHS has administered millions of autumn top-ups to combat Covid, and are encouraging millions more to book an appointment, including the over 50s, those who are pregnant, have suppressed immune systems, a learning disability or other health issue. 

Those at risk can self-declare (they don't need to wait for an invite) and can attend a walk-in site or book in online at the NHS website. Anyone who needs help making an appointment should call 119.

Black History Month in Lambeth
 

There are many events lined up in October to celebrate Black History Month, including Jamaica 60 Celebration, a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Jamaican independence; a special Lambeth LGBTQ+ Book Group discussion of Bernardine Evaristo's Mr Loverman and much more. Head to Lambeth Council's website for details of all the events still to come this October. 

For those eager to teach little ones about the event, LEAP has put together a series of activities that can be done at home with young children, all of which celebrate Black History Month heroes.

Love Your Mind Lambeth
 

Our colleagues at Lambeth Together have launched the new Love Your Mind Lambeth Campaign, which will see posters put up around the borough sharing tips on how to boost your wellbeing, as well as links to further information on wellbeing and how to access clinical support if needed. 

Moreover, Lambeth Council have been working with South London and Maudsley NHS Trust to produce a series of online workshops open to anyone interested in learning how to recognise the signs of mental distress in others, become more confident to approach the topic with people, and direct them to the appropriate support.

Work Well Employment Advice Service
Unemployed or stressed at work? Get free and confidential employment advice
 

Work Well is part of South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust. They are here to support people who are unemployed in achieving their own career goals. They can also support people who are unhappy or stressed at work.

Work Well provides a range of services across South London and beyond, including one-to-one coaching and free information and advice.

Brixton Advice Centre (BAC) and Centre 70 are doing an anonymous survey to understand the issues you and our community are facing, campaign for change, and develop advice services around Lambeth.
