We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen
 

Responding to the death of Her Majesty The Queen, our CEO, Chair, and National Director, Louise Ansari, said:

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who served our nation with so much dignity and dedication during her long years of public service.

“Her contribution will long be remembered, not least by the NHS patients and workers to whom she provided so much support during her reign.

“On behalf of everyone at Healthwatch, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the Royal Family.  Our thoughts and sympathy are with you.”
 
We welcome our new Chief Executive, Mairéad Healy
 

Mairéad joins us from an international human rights organisation where she was part of the leadership team. Mairéad is an experienced chief executive, having previously been CEO of two award-winning organisations, a children’s mental health service and before that, a youth charity.

Mairéad is passionate about addressing health inequalities and ensuring those without a voice are empowered to have their voices heard, having worked with several community groups and individuals from a range of backgrounds throughout her career. 

This included her appointment to the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales by the previous Prime Minister following her work with young people from gang backgrounds.

She has experience as a Governor of an NHS Trust and has sat on the grant committee of a high-profile grants body. She also worked for the European Commission earlier in her career and for the national Traveller Movement, where she authored the first ever dedicated report to the UN on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller discrimination in the UK. 

She is also an elected councillor on Cambridge City Council, where she serves as the Executive Member with responsibility for the Health and Wellbeing, Anti-poverty and Equalities portfolio.

Ronan O'Shea, our new Communications Officer

Ronan O’Shea has recently joined to team as Healthwatch Lambeth’s new Communications Officer. Before this, he worked in a mental health care home in North London and has also been a journalist and teacher. He is looking forward to working on behalf of Lambeth residents to produce better awareness of health and social care in the borough.
 
Join our autumn drop-in events
 

Come and meet members of the Healthwatch Lambeth team and discuss your experience of healthcare in the borough.  

In September and October, Healthwatch Lambeth will co-facilitate two events in conjunction with a food bank in St. Luke’s Church Food Bank in Norwood and Durning Library in Kennington. 

The afternoon events will give residents the chance to discuss their experiences of health and social care – good and bad – in Lambeth and will also provide information on relevant services in the borough which they may find useful. Details of the events are as follows:

  • St Luke’s Church Food bank - Knights Hill SE27 0HS on Thursday 29 September, at 12-2pm
  • Clapham Library - Mary Seacole Centre, 91 Clapham High Street SW4 7DB on Thursday 29 September, at 10am to 11.30pm
  • Durning Library - 167 Kennington Lane SE11 4HF on Tuesday 26 October, at 12-3pm

Healthwatch Lambeth is your local independent health and social care champion, working for local residents to ensure your voice is heard in healthcare conversations.

We are here to listen to your views and feedback what we learn to health and social care teams, in order to help Lambeth residents experience more satisfactory health and care in the borough.
 
World Mental Health Day event
Learn to ease stress and save money this World Mental Health Day
 

Do you want to know how you and your family can save money on food and energy bills? Do you want to learn how green spaces can support our mental and physical health?

Healthwatch Lambeth are organising a virtual event on Zoom to mark World Mental Health Day 2022. Join us on Wednesday 12 October at 12:30pm - 2pm to chat, share tips and relax with a mindfulness session.

We are working with King's College Hospital to hear from people who have experienced mental health care at King’s A&E department in the last year. We want to hear from anyone who has been to the Denmark Hill A&E department with a mental health issue about what went well and what could be improved.

Cases of COVID-19 are rising rapidly across the world. In the UK, everyone aged 5 and over can get a 1st and 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Connect Up supports people to develop their digital skills and confidence to learn new things, live more independently and connect with their community.

Each week we cover a different topic. Through practical activities, discussions and demonstrations, learners will get to grips with different online tools in a fun and friendly environment:

  • Email 101
  • Searching safely
  • Using Zoom to join activities
  • Intro to 'Learn My Way'

Throughout the course, there will be plenty of opportunity to put what you learn into practice, have your questions answered and then help with the next steps of your digital learning journey!

Work Well is part of South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust. They are here to support people who are unemployed in achieving their own career goals. They can also support people who are unhappy or stressed at work.

Work Well provide a range of services across South London and beyond, including one-to-one coaching and free information and advice.

Would you like to join a team of patient assessors who help ensure local hospitals maintain a high quality care environment?

Hospitals are required to do a Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment, known as PLACE. The hospitals that are currently looking for assessors are:
