Healthwatch Lambeth is your health and social care champion. We listen to what people like about services and what could be improved. We share those views with NHS leaders and care providers to make change happen.

With autumn upon us, there's much to look forward to in the days and weeks ahead. 

I'd like to take this opportunity to warmly invite you to the 2023 Healthwatch Lambeth AGM and Annual Report launch on Monday 16 October from 2pm to 5pm at Lambeth Town Hall. We are keen to share with our residents, partners and stakeholders, the work we have done over the past year, and for them to help shape our programme for the coming year. 

We will be joined by Mayor of Lambeth and Louise Ansari, the Chief Executive of Healthwatch England, who will be speaking about the vision for Healthwatch England and local Healthwatch in the coming years.

Most importantly, this is a chance for residents and partners to get to know our staff, trustees, and volunteers better over food and drink, and to discuss how we can continue to shape better health and social care outcomes for Lambeth residents in the months and years ahead.

We are looking forward to attending, and meeting many of our older Lambeth residents at, the Age Friendly Lambeth Launch event on Saturday 30 September from 11am to 3pm at the Kia Oval (Jardine Suite, Alex Stewart Gate, Harleyford Road, The Oval SE11 5SS).

The event will celebrate the contribution older residents make to Lambeth. It will also mark the International Day of Older People, and Lambeth’s commitment to becoming an Age Friendly Borough, where Lambeth residents can live a full and active life as they get older.

The event is aimed at older Lambeth residents (aged 50 and over) and there will be lunch, entertainment, craft activities, exercise classes, a tea dance, and information stalls with local voluntary and community groups promoting their services and activities. 

Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you there!

This autumn, the NHS would like to widen our view on asthma in four key areas including the importance of putting an asthma plan in place; how to use inhalers correctly; scheduling asthma reviews and considering air pollution and its impact on the lungs. 

Learn more about the campaign week here and help protect your own health and wellbeing and that of your loved ones. 

We ran pop-up stalls at Guy’s Hospital (Tower Wing Reception) on Tuesday 5 September and at Kings College Hospital (Golden Jubilee Wing, near the helpdesk) on Wednesday 6 September.

We promoted Healthwatch Lambeth, raising awareness of our services, gathered feedback on health and care services, and provided information, advice, and support to Lambeth residents with problems accessing and using health and care services.

We were pleased to meet a wide range of patients and staff at both stalls. Thank you to everyone who spoke to us. Your views count and will help us improve local health and care services.

We will be running pop-up stalls at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals and at Kings College Hospital once a quarter, so look out for our December dates in a future newsletter.
